How To Deal With Smelly Underarms and Body Odor
In high school I’ve had many struggles from losing friends to getting into unnecessary drama and so on and so forth, however one of my truest struggles was my body smell.
I believe it was 10th-12th grade I struggled with the smell of my body. My underarms were the true problem.
I began puberty using the same deodorant brand that all of my other siblings used. It never was an issue until I realized that in 2 hours after applying it I smelled like an expired rotten onion… sitting in a room… with the hot sun beaming on it… and no airflow. Yeah nasty. It was embarrassing especially because everyone around me always smelled so good. I didn’t own perfume then and my mom only let me use hers on special occasions.
I was just so ashamed and insecure so I decided to research and try to fix this problem all on my own.
I found articles all over talking about the use of lime and baking soda and some type of coconut oil mixture. I decided to try lime first because it was the easiest and my mother also recommended it to me. I tried it and I smelled like the same onion only worst because it would only take me getting dressed for the “product” to leave.
I was frustrated but didn’t give up hope. I decided to try this baking soda and corn starch method. It was better but still had a short duration less than my actual deodorant. I used this for a while though and some Victoria’s Secret body mist but, would have to spritz myself after each class. I didn’t even want to lift my arms… like ever which caused more sweat and a louder smell.
I was embarrassed and so frustrated that I decided to finally go to the doctor for assistance. She recommended a powerful deodorant that had to be prescribed however my insurance didn’t cover it so I had to pay $25 fucking dollars for a stupid deodorant (which I didn’t) and went straight back to the internet for some help.
I decided to just try rubbing baking soda under my arms with some water I mean it would be a plus-plus… lighten my underarms and make me smell good. I did that for the whole rest of my 12th grade… which was a bad decision because my underarm was chemically burnt.
I’ll show you the results in another tab for the sake of the people who get grossed out easily or just don’t want to see it. *Here*
Yeah it was horrible and stung so bad. I was also just getting into a relationship with my boyfriend at the time so I was embarrassed to tell him about my body struggles and instead hid it. Eventually I came out with it and he was understanding and recommended some products for me to use. However I just decided to leave it alone and let it heal, meaning I had to stink again for a while until it healed.
Summer was coming up and I had to find a new product soon so thankfully I found something that was doable although I still began to smell after 3 hours of use and had to keep my underarms closed. That summer one of my coworkers let me use their deodorant because I forgot to bring my own for pool day and after using it I was shook! I was like…
Ever since then I’ve been using the same exact deodorant… I bet you’re wondering wtf it is that in which I praise and am like holy Jesus fuck me in the ass. That would be *drum roll please*
If you want to use the same product I use… that basically saved my life you can get it by clicking the link or picture above!
It’s an anti-perspirant, that also helps restore your skin to its natural tone. Which I of course needed after the burn underneath my arm. It also last for 48 hours (so true) and I usually purchase a new one every 3 or 4 months because it last for so long. I literally love this deodorant and won’t be using anything else for the rest of my life.
Yes I have used every product on the shelf besides this so sadly I went through that all for no reason, but legit-legit if I use any other product I would stink in 2.5 seconds but with this it basically saved my life… I hope in sharing this info I can save another.
